I’m having a “Jimmy” moment here…………”Whoa, Brain Overload!” (smile). Here’s how my day laid out:

See my shrink: Get those little pink pills that allow me to sleep at night and keep my OCD under control when the sun is shining (smile). Of course, If I did not operate on a steady stream of coffee, which I am told can cause psychosis (true story), sleeping might not be a problem.

Network over coffee: Glad I got my prescription refilled (smile). For those not familiar with this form of networking, it is done in person. Face to face. It involves your lips not your thumbs (smile).

Sit in on webinar ….”Don’t Pee In The (Social Media) Pool“: This was put on by Tricycle Brand Development and was kind of a “what not to do” with social media. I don’t think that I’m peeing in the pool right now but occasionally I may “leak”.  And you know what? I’m o.k. with that. We call it “learning”.

Seesmic: New update out today. I’m starting to think that I may look at this a little closer as an alternative to Tweet Deck.

YouTube: O.K., if you are not aware, YouTube is now owned by Google. In my post yesterday I embedded a YouTube video of “Smoke On The Water” by Deep Purple. So, I’m watching the video in my tie dyes, sandals, and pukka beads and I then see that Google is running ads below the video. Better yet, the ads are for networking groups. Now how in the hell did Google know that I embedded that video in a post, on a site, that is devoted to networking? Scary. (more…)

Had lunch yesterday with a friend and colleague, Brian Ernesto from Neoreef which provides website design and hosting. Even better, Neoreef provides websites where you can actually do certain maintenance and modifications by yourself without having to go back thru them! Actually, Brian means so much more to me. He’s also a geek. Maybe even……..an uber geek (smile). Remember Craig’s #1 Rule: You gotta’ have your geeks and you gotta’ keep them close! (smile).

So we met over a the Olive Garden. Yummy lunch! (I took that directly from one of Brian’s old tweets. Found it to be both informative and action provoking (smile)). Being the shameless “user and taker” that I am, I wanted to get Brian’s take on a number of topics………….

Twitter: Brian prefers Twirl over Tweet Deck because he can run multiple accounts out of Twirl. That and for the fact that it has spell check and his spelling sucks (smile). I may have to switch (smile). It is also his feeling that, perhaps, Twitter addresses a different demographic than say LinkedIn. He may be right. However, Twitter will keep your name “top of mind” and create that “buzz”. He further went on to explain a possible reason why I sense that there is so little back and forth interaction on Twitter. For some folks, if they follow a lot of “tweeple”, by the time look at their Twitter “in-box” ………..that Tweet you sent………..it’s been pushed so far down the list that it would take them 1/2 hour to scroll down to it. Makes perfect sense. (more…)

“Whoa! Brain overload!” (smile). I was talking with one of my colleagues last night, Virginia Cunningham, who knows a heck of a lot more about blogging than I do. She suggested that I need to link other folk’s blogs into my blog. That’s great. Technically I know how to establish the link, but where do I find the blogs?

Virginia directed me to Google Blog Search. I started out just searching for “Boise” and, of course, was overwhelmed by the results. I kept narrowing down to try to find a blog site that was both local and pertinent to what we are trying to do with this site, it’s readers, and our group. As I kept narrowing it down, one result that finally came up, was this blog. Sweeeet (smile)! That being said, I found some other good ones and will start sharing those. (more…)

I like the term “Sales Weasel”. Keeps things real (smile). Might even put it on my business card. I also like D.D.S.. No, I’m not a dentist. I’m a Door to Door Salesman (smile). The term “Sales Weasel” actually came from a Dilbert cartoon. Jimmy the Sales Weasel has to take Dilbert out on a call with him so that he can have some technical backup. So Jimmy says “Tell me a little bit about our product while we are driving over there”. Dilbert replies “It’s brown and uses electricity”. Jimmy….”Whoa, brain overload!” (smile). Right now I feel a lot like Jimmy (smile)

Time to make out my to-do list. Things I have gotten done so far:

  1. Set up this basic blog
  2. Integrated this blog feed into my LinkedIn profile
  3. Added a link to this blog in my LinkedIn profile
  4. Loaded google reader and have two feeds coming in
  5. Set up a twitter account and added tweet deck and twirl (more on these later)
