Good food too! Today’s event was catered entirely by Stan Perez and the folks over at the Good Thyme Grille in Meridian. Your choice of some really tasty sandwiches, chili, and macaroni salad. Yummy (smile). I understand that they made enough for about 750 folks and I think that maybe about 700 arrived prior to the doors opening. I got there at 11:30 (start time) and had to park in Boise. This event is in Meridian (smile). A ton of folks and some really really great networking.

Today’s event was sponsored by Tracy and Dan over at Sprague Solutions which specializes in office furnishings and design. They gave away a beautiful $1,200 office chair and the only thing that would have made it more beautiful was to have my butt sitting in it right now. Alas, it was not meant to be (smile).

Thanks again to the fine folks over at UltraClean who put this on each and every month! There is a tremendous amount of work involved and everybody appreciates all their fine efforts!

Well, if they say that a picture is worth 1,ooo words, here are several thousand for you to enjoy! NetWorks! Boise members are identified where featured. I’m a lousy photographer and this is my first attempt at a slide show so ….  please be gentle. I know, “Craig, don’t quit the day job” (smile)

If you missed this, you missed out! Probably over 400 folks enyoying BBQ and excellent networking. This is event is held the 3rd Wednesday of each month over at Ultra Clean in Meridian. It was announced today that starting next month a 1/2 educational seminar will be offered beginning at 11:00 AM and prior to the event which begins at 11:30 AM and runs to 2:00 PM. Oh yeah, and it’s even FREE. Can’t beat that!

And, since NetWorks! Boise is all about networking, this event is integrated into our regular schedule. I might add that Ultra Clean is also a member of our group. Shameless plug (smile).

I feel like I should break out a little “Deep Purple” here. Maybe, “Live in Tokyo”. Ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba, ba baaaa. Well……maybe I will (smile). Today is the third Wednesday of the month and that can only mean one thing, the Ultra Clean Smoke Out. A perfect day, fabulous smoked pork with all the fixins, and well over 300 of my closest friends (smile). This event runs from 11:30 to 2:00 and it pays to be there when the doors open. I got there right at 11:30 and had to park a block away.

At NetWorks!, we are so fond of this event for both the food and it’s networking value, that we have incorporated it’s attendance into our meeting schedule. And, make no mistake, people are there to network. In my day, I have attended more chamber type functions than I can count and none, nada, can compare to this for pure networking value. Please go to our event calendar to see the date for the next Smoke Out and you can also get a map to it’s location.

Today’s Smoke Out was sponsored by Redline Recreational Toys where you can rent anything from a motor home to a snow mobile to a ski boat and everything in between without the hassle and expense associated with ownership. I wish I had known about this prior to buying my P.O.S. motor home last year (smile). They even rent a Harley. Hmmmmm.

Well, short post today. Makes up for all the ones that go way over budget (smile). Time to upload today’s leads to our CRM. I leave you with………

Could not pass up on the cartoon even if it did exceed my preferred file size but, I like to live on the edge. That’s me passing my card (smile).

Wow! Two great networking events over the span of 17 hours. It started out last night with our monthly meeting of Sales Marketing Executives. Email me for more info on this group if you have any interest. Met some more old colleagues including one whom I had not seen in probably about 10 years. He had less hair than before but, then again, so do I. At least his hair still shows some color (smile).

SME, as usual was a great meeting and featured a great speaker, David McCauley from InCite Alliance. David’s firm specializes in helping a lot of businesses with their various process segments. This would include ensuring that sales teams operate at peak performance which was the topic of David’s discussion last night. Now, David originally hails from New York and moving to the Boise “slow lane” has not, even after 10 years, diminished his New York energy levels. If you do meet with David, be prepared to work up a sweat (smile).

I’m going to call his talk “back to basics”. I don’t know how he might feel about that but he also, I believe, used that terminology. And, really, is that not what it is all about? I think so. David inherently understands the sales person mentality. Pretty easy as he are one (smile). He made a ton of good points about: (more…)

If you have never been to this site before, let’s just say that I am a traditional networker trying to find his way in a new fangled electronic world. Most of this blog is devoted to that journey. And, make no mistake, I am a huge believer in networking and close to 100% of my client base is connected in one way or another to creating, nurturing, and building these types of relationships. Now, more than ever, there are a lot of ways out there to connect with others. So, how to strike a balance?

Business-Social Leads Groups (business emphasis): Perhaps the traditional networker’s most widely recognized tool of trade. I have been involved in these since the early 90′s and still maintain relationships that began that same long time ago.  I am not making this up, I have sold millions of dollars worth of signs as a direct result of relationships that began in these same groups. Relationships that continue today. I am such a huge believer in these organizations that I created one that meets my exacting specifications for the leads group fueled by steroids …. NetWorks! (smile). NetWorks! fulfills what I like to call the business-social segment of networking. We are social but, the focus is on business. Just this week, I was presented with a ground floor opportunity to further present the sign aspect of my business to a very targeted and lucrative market. The offer came from a gentleman who was a member of my leads group some 16 years ago. This type of networking is best designed for those of us who are comfortable with being considered as carnivorous by nature (smile). (more…)
